Little House on the Prairie: Convinced that she will have quite a bit in common financially with Hester Sue Terhoun--the leader of the other blind school coming to Walnut Grove--Harriet Oleson learns a painful lesson in judging a book by its cover when she meets Hester Sue for the first time. Hester Sue is a kind and no-nonsense woman who, to Harriet's dismay, is African-American, and when Joe Kagen attempts to get romantic with her, he doesn't realize exactly what he's about to get into. As the adults and children continue along their journey, Adam inadvertently reveals a dark secret about himself, and Harriet continues to behave coldly toward Hester Sue, Joe and the African-American blind children, but everything is about to change when she overhears a sobering conversation.
